Busy Summer

Okay I told myself I was going to update every month on my hair growth process but I guess I kinda forgot. Anyway, it's been about 2 months since the initial cut and this is now my hair length!

As you can see it is much longer and theoretically it has grown an inch.  In theory.  But I got impatient and because of this one of the sides is shaved.

So that's the left side of my head right now.  I can still hide it if I want, but I rarely do. :)

ALSO, I've been babysitting.

Somehow Lily (the little girl) managed to slap my computer enough to where the picture on the webcam appeared upside down.  I'm trying to fix it while she screams in protest.  I rarely take my laptop there anymore.

My New Uke

Well graduation has proved to be very generous to me and I've gotten a Ukulele from it as well.  It's a teensy soprano one.  I know 3 chords already (C, F, B?) I can't really remember their names, but here they are.

Also my hair is fabulous today.  I ran through a hailstorm prior to this video.  I really should do that more often I guess because I'm loving it.

Presents

Graduating high school means everyone wants to give you really cool stuff.  Also, May 6th was my birthday so everyone is giving even more cool stuff.  Some of my cool stuff has been money.  Mostly money actually.  I've also gotten a laptop and talk of a smart phone.

I want to share some of the cool stuff I've gotten.  Especially the cool stuff from my beau.  He was able to send me a present from MCT. Awww.

First up is a bunny.  I always pester him by asking for a bunny.  Well, he finally got me one.  This one holds a candle and is very pretty in my opinion.  The candles inside are lavender I believe and smell amazing!
Yankee Candle
Next is all the perfume he bought me.  It came in pack of five from Victoria secret and it all smells amazing! The first picture has a picture of Tyler in the background.  He hates that picture of him.  He looks very intense. O.O

"Bombshell"

"Secret Angel"

"Incredible"

"Heavenly"

"Gorgeous"
Also, I got a sock monkey from Mom.  It's decked out in fabulous UT Knoxville colors.

My hair.

Update!  Those of you that think pixies are not versatile enough, think again!  I've found a new way to do my 'do.
ends are flipped up for more body
By flipping the ends with a straightening iron I've transformed my pixie into something that resembles a mini-bob and is super cute with all the new hair accessories that I've found.

For all you gals with pixie cuts, probably the best way to remain looking feminine is to add a little flair with headbands.  I find that making a pronounced separation between the bands and the rest of the hair really gives off a girly vibe which is essential if you want your pixie not to look too boyish.

Walmart provides me with many of my accessories and styling products. Göt2b offers most of my styling products.  I used the "glued" hairspray and "ultra glued" gel.  Also, their "guardian angel" heat protectant is pretty sweet.  I also nabbed these hair bands for about 4 buck-a-roos a pop.  These bows came separately, but I also grabbed a set of four plain ones for only 4 bucks.  Pretty freakin' sweet!
tan bow!
This hair will keep my poor boyfriend sane by reinforcing that I am, indeed, a girl after-all.  Especially after a few Beiber fiascos.

Another tip I want to delve further into is MAKE-UP!!!!

Make-up is awesome in small doses.  In the make-up world (for me at least) less is more.  You want to keep your make-up pretty mild especially with pixie cuts.  A lot of emphasis is going to be on your face and you don't want to cake it on less you look like this.
Whoah, Nelly!
Soft pinks on the lips are always feminine and demure.  Nude tones, pastels, or earthy tones on the eyes are also pretty sweet.  Basically, you want to look as natural as possible or at least as toned down as possible.

I personally love love love the winged eyeliner fad.
Oh, Emma! Cute as ever.
You can also rock bright lips if you're feeling super classy.  There is a shade of red for EVERYONE you just have to find yours.  If you're black, crazy lip colors are your best friends, especially if you're nice and dark (lucky ducks).  Also, if you have a darker complexion you will have no problem not overdoing crazy eyeshadow.  Seriously, I really envy darker skin girls.  Gorgeous.
such beautiful skin
But I digress.  If you're pale like me, you want soft colors to really girl you up. <3

Well, that's all I got today.  So long, folks.

How not to look like Justin Bieber

So as I put my glasses on tonight and got out of the tub I noticed something very peculiar/disturbing/face-palmingly sobering.
Pretty much a web cam picture of me.  You
wouldn't know the difference anyway.
So, I realized the urgency of blogging about how not to look like hipster Justin Bieber when you are a girl with short hair and bold glasses.  It's very specific, I know.

When your hair is short it is very important to dress like a girl.  You want to wear things that accentuate your curves and your neck (especially if you have a shorter pixie cut).  Make-up is also key.  You don't have to wear a lot, but it really  helps if you can create contrast in your features.  You see, the thing that makes girls look like girls and guys look like guys isn't so much facial structure as it is contrast in the features' colors (i.e. make-up).  Girls' faces have higher contrast.

I'm hoping to soon have my pixie cut a bit longer.  Hair grows about 1.25 centimeters per month (that's about 0.5 inches!)  By the time summer is over and I'm in college I think it's safe to say I'll have a cut that looks more girly and easier to make look girly.

Of course then I'll be quickly approaching the mullet stage... *cue dramatic music*

BAD
My advice for people dealing with the mullet thingy.  Chop it off.  Just take some scissors and keep hacking that tail until the rest of your hair can catch up.  It's not worth keeping on there.  Just no.  But I digress.

And now I will grudgingly put a webcam shot of me up to reiterate my point.

My name is Jessie and I do not approve of this message.

So, I've decided to actually post more on my blog because: A) It'll give me something to do this summer and B) I have a new mohawk that I want to show off.
My new rocking mohawk.
Also, coming soon will probably be a time lapse of me growing it out because I realize when winter comes around my  head will get very cold.  So, those of you wondering how growing out pixie cuts or other short hair works, I will be a prime example of what NOT to do.  Hair isn't really my 'thing'.

In other news my beau, Tyler, will be out of Marine Combat training in a month or so.  I just thought I'd share that little joy with the world because he is, quite honestly, the best thing ever.
Prom <3 ( Tyler has problems with smiling for pictures.
 He doesn't really know how.)
He's hoping to get a month or so off to be a recruiter's assistant thing.  Then he goes to MOS (that's like Marine Occupational School or something.) If it sounds like I don't know what I'm talking about, it's because I don't.  Seriously.

Anyway, back to things I do know.  Prom was pretty much awesome except for the whole allergy/eye infection/I have know idea thing I had going on.  Pictures were painful.  For some reason we were required to look directly into the sun.
That's me whining because the sun burned.
Well, that's about it.  All I can think of at least.  I'll have more life updates as the summer progresses.
